چکیده

We present the discovery and confirmation of a transiting hot, bloated Super-Neptune using photometry from TESS LCOGT radial velocity measurements HARPS. The host star TOI-2498 is V = 11.2, G-type (T$_{eff}$ 5905 $\pm$ 12K) solar-like with mass 1.12 0.02 M$_{\odot}$ radius 1.26 0.04 R$_{\odot}$. planet, b, orbits period 3.7 days, has 6.1 0.3 R$_{\oplus}$, 35 4 M$_{\oplus}$. This results in density 0.86 0.25 g cm$^{-3}$. b resides on edge Neptune desert; region mass-period parameter space which there appears to be dearth planets. Therefore an interesting case study further understand origins boundaries desert. Through modelling evaporation history, we determine that over its $\sim$3.6 Gyr lifespan, likely reduced Saturn sized planet current through photoevaporation. Moreover, potential candidate for future atmospheric studies searching species like water or sodium optical high-resolution, carbon based molecules infra-red JWST.

Birth and fate of hot - Neptune planets

This paper presents a consistent description of the formation and the subsequent evolution of gaseous planets, with special attention to short-period, low-mass hot-Neptune planets characteristic of µ Ara-like systems. We show that core accretion including migration and disk evolution and subsequent evolution taking into account irradiation and evaporation provide a viable formation mechanism fo...

THE OBLIQUE ORBIT OF THE SUPER-NEPTUNE HAT-P-11b

We find the orbit of the Neptune-sized exoplanet HAT-P-11b to be highly inclined relative to the equatorial plane of its host star. This conclusion is based on spectroscopic observations of two transits, which allowed the Rossiter-McLaughlin effect to be detected with an amplitude of 1.5 m s−1. The sky-projected obliquity is 103+26 −10 degrees. This is the smallest exoplanet for which spin-orbi...

Five New Transits of the Super-Neptune HD 149026b

We present new photometry of HD 149026 spanning five transits of its “superNeptune” planet. In combination with previous data, we improve upon the determination of the planet-to-star radius ratio: Rp/R⋆ = 0.0491 +0.0018 −0.0005 . We find the planetary radius to be 0.71± 0.05 RJup, in accordance with previous theoretical models invoking a high metal abundance for the planet. The limiting error i...

NEPTUNE: dc power beyond MARS

The modular power converter designed for the Monterey Accelerated Research System (MARS), and recently successfully tested by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and the University of Washington, is a significant milestone in the development of regional cabled observatories. The ability to transmit up to 10kW reliably over long distances using 10kV direct current (dc) and convert it to a more u...

HAT - P - 11 b : A SUPER - NEPTUNE PLANET TRANSITING A BRIGHT K STAR IN THE KEPLER FIELD

We report on the discovery of HAT-P-11b, the smallest radius transiting extrasolar planet (TEP), and the first hot Neptune discovered to date by transit searches. HAT-P-11b orbits the bright (V=9.587) and metal rich ([Fe/H] = +0.31 ± 0.05) K4 dwarf star GSC 03561-02092 with P = 4.8878162 ± 0.0000071 days and produces a transit signal with depth of 4.2mmag; the shallowest found by transit search...
